Royal Mail new, barcoded 1st and 2nd Class stamps

Some of you may already be aware that Royal Mail have recently introduced new everyday stamps which include barcodes. When using the new stamps, it’s important to ensure that the barcode remains attached so that the stamp is valid.

While normal, non-barcoded 1st and 2nd Class stamps will continue to be sold until 31st January 2023, the new stamps will soon replace these and customers are encouraged to use their normal stamps ahead of this time.

If you are concerned about using up your normal stamps ahead of this time, you can exchange non-barcoded stamps using Royal Mail’s Swap Out Scheme. You can find more information and a form to complete the process from Galmpton Post Office, but please note we are not able to exchange stamps instore.

For more information or any questions, pop into the shop, give us a call on 01803 842148 or email galleonstores1993@gmail.com.

New barcoded 1st and 2nd Class stamps

Royal Mail have recently introduced new barcoded 1st and 2nd Class stamps for their definitive ‘everyday’ and Christmas stamps. The introduction of the barcode will provide an additional security layer, as every stamp is unique.

The stamps will soon replace the non-barcoded stamps which will be slowly phased out and remain valid until the end of January 2023. You can find out more about the changes here: https://www.royalmail.com/sending/barcoded-stamps.

If you are unable to use up your non-barcoded stamps, from 31st March 2022 Royal Mail launch their ‘Swap Out’ scheme to enable customers to swap non-barcoded for barcoded stamps. The scheme will be available through Galleon Stores and Post Office. Please get in touch with us or give us a call on 01803 842148 for more information.

Royal Mail price increases from April

You can stock up on 1st and 2nd Class stamps from Galleon Stores up to this date at the current price (85p and 66p respectively) and continue to use them following the price increases, until 31st January 2023. More information on this here.

  • Online returns – if you need to return some online shopping you can do so through the Post Office, by either attaching a pre-printed returns label or showing us your Royal Mail returns QR code
